Misnamed GG ROM - Donald no Magical World

Post by alexian »

Looking at this game:
game (
name "Donald no Magical World (Japan) (En,Ja)"
description "Donald no Magical World (Japan) (En,Ja)"
rom ( name "Donald no Magical World (Japan) (En,Ja).gg" size 524288 crc 87b8b612 md5 34e9b284e61fb9a2cad4878451579295 sha1 5f9afdd5720f88f7cc18715f8e50fc5635b15323 )
)

This shows the Japanese box for this game:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gamege ... l?box=8636

But this page shows the in-game title screen:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gamege ... .html?gf=1

No-Intro lists this as a Japan only game, while GoodTools lists this as a dual Japan / USA release. Both only list one ROM of this game. And that ROM appears to be written specifically in English (not Engrish), based on the intro (yes, I played that far...).

My point is, I can't read Japanese, so I have no idea what the box text reads. But, the title screen clearly reads "Ronald in The Magical World" -- so I would suggest that should be the name for this game.

OK. Perhaps I'm overlooking something. I don't see any documentation anywhere that indicates how No-Intro chooses a file's name. Do you base off of the box art, or off of the title screen? Or is there no established standard?

There was a thread on the old forum for the naming convention. Here is the latest version of the attached file there.

We follow boxart when available. Otherwise (betas, protos, etc) we follow titlescreen.

Before the convention titlescreen was used, so it is possible that some inconsistancy remains. Titles are then fixed to boxart as soon as detected.
