No-Intro Screenshot Archive (NISA)

Post by Macarro »

Back in the new forum, the No-Intro Screenshot Archive Thread.

I'll make up the thread soon, meanwhile:
No-intro screenshot archive is just an attempt to collect and organize all screenshots for the games verified by the no-intro team in their DAT files.

It is a hard task (specially for those cart and box scans) but with time, effort and help from the community, it can success, becoming a main reference for the emulation world, and specially for those no-intro collectors around the net.

Archive is done using a CRC naming scheme, which is easy to translate back to the game name with our tools, making screenshots usable with the many emulator front-ends supporting this feature.

Time to resume work on this.

We need japanese tranlators who can rename jpg files to the proper CRC or current game name in DAT files. We have sorted out a bunch of japanese cart pictures for different systems, but i have no clue of what the game names are.

Please drop me a message or say somthing here if you are willing to help. The task is easy, just grab the missing list from our site and the image pack that need to be renamed (i will provide this to the ones helping) and send it back renamed.

Thanks!

I will receive a new scanner within a few weeks (old one's busted). I'm planning on (re)dumping all my SNES games and scanning whatever is needed, including PCBs (except for manuals, just don't have the time ATM). I will also sell some of my games for other systems, but I will scan/dump them before selling.
Any guidelines on quality, size, etc. Also, do you only want the cart label or the entire cart?
Are there any up-to-date lists on what you already have for SNES?

I'm planning to do exactly the same with my Mega Drive games so I'm hearing any scan suggestions too.

300 dpi and JPG format will do

As for the carts, we are scanning the whole cart, not just the label.

Thanks guys ! Hopefully i can make some update soon.. need to finish work on 2 websites first. Really busy right now :(

I just received my Canon CanoScan 8800F. I just did a small test and the quality is great.
I will scan and dump my games one by one, so it may take a while ;)
I will also up the scans to my webspace, since perhaps others like FitzRoy or badinsults may also want them for their projects.

Just a note: since I saw one of you was making 3D boxarts for a new frontend, I will scan my boxes full (including sides). Too bad I have to flatten them (got some brand new ones), but what it's for a good cause ;)
/me grabs a beer and powers up his scanner :whistling:
BTW, just got offered a new job, so I have to hurry scanning before RL kicks in...

Hello, I've scanned all my VirtualBoy box, cart, pcb, manual and reg card (just 6 games).
I'm currently re-cutting the scanned image.

I've a question about box, should I do an image with all the side of the box or separated ?
And for the manual, should I separate the double pages or not ?

N64 label and pcb (only have loose games) should follow soon, as my gameboy games (only 5 and 4 looses).

After it'll be megadrive games but that will be long to do (over 300 games ...)

Thanks a lot ElBarto !

As for the box sides, i don't know.. let's wait for Macarro to answer, i'm just uploading front/back sides.

Don't know if you have TP access to our uploaders FTP, if so, feel free to create a folder with your name and upload everything there.

I'll get back sorting out all scans as soon as i'm done with exams. It's been a really bad year, and progress has been really poor, but we are still alive :)

Cheers!!!

If don't have access to your ftp.

I have an other questions, how is organize the zip for multi-region games ? And for games who have different covers release for one region (such as classic collection for the megadrive) ?

I've started to scan my pico books games too and Cowering had almost scanned all the US books.
I'm currently trying to find a way to draw them properly in MESS and soon I'll need a zip format for them.
Thoses book are sometimes differents for each country even with the same roms, but not all the pages are different, just some of them.
European book pages are different of Usa ones, even if the picture is the same, european one have two serial on the left (gamecode and -P#-country, where # is the page number). I assume that some euro roms will be the same that usa roms, so we need a format with usa, european and country specific book scans.

I was thinking of this one :

.
USA/page1.ext
USA/page2.ext
USA/...
Europe/gameserial-p#-country

I don't know about jap book pages for now so I'll see after.

Maybe we can use a format like that for manual too (many megadrive games are worldwide) ?

We didn't face that problem yet, but your sugestion looks ok to me.

I still need to figure out something for covers and cart scans for different regions too, when the rom is the same. For now we keep collecting all, we'll see how to deal with it later :)

I'll check the FTP settings and send access details to you later.

Cheers!

Just as clarification, what exactly are you trying to compile for each game?

so far mentioned in this thread/whatever I can think of:
-cover art
-cartridge pictures
-boxart?
-manuals?
-in-game screenshots?
-title screens?

If its anything that can be done from the rom files themselves (i.e. in-game screenshots), then I wouldn't mind helping...
Actual cartridge scans...well...I'd have to own and be able to find the cart for that...

Meep!

-cartridge pictures
-scanned manuals
-in-game screenshot
-title screenshot
-video running the game

Hi Geezup,

I have a decent amount of scans/manuals/etc. Some I made myself and they are already on the FTP. I am currently sorting my discs (HD, CDs, DVDs) and I come across a lot of scans (not by me). Do you want me to upload them to the FTP? I am currently naming them like the ROMs.
