"??" can be read "Mejika" and "Meshika". I can't tell what's the correct one here. "Mejika" seems to be mainstream.

Yeah. At least it's written as mejika in the wikipedia page (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/????????????). I'm not sure about what they use officially though.

Edit: Link didn't work. Possibly because of the Japanese text.

I need help from a native japanese speaker to be sure: how they read "???" (The Forbidden City), because "Shi Kin-jou" ("jyo"/"joh" is incorrect when using Hepburn romanization) seems to be a medley Chinese/Japanese reading (chinese reading is "zijincheng")

In Japanese, "?" (Purple) reads "murasaki", so since no kanas are used on boxart for the reading:

Murasaki Kin Shiro

or considering "?" as suffix to match boxart reading

Compound words are often read with the ON-yomi (Chinese reading). Indeed shikinj? is correct, see Wikipedia entry ???. Murasaki kinjou would still get a ? particle for possessive form. Also, since ? only has an ON-yomi, it would usually induce an ON-yomi on the whole word, whereas this doesn't apply to suffixes. However, there are always exceptions to these heuristics.
