Hey guys, I was wondering what my problem is with these. Basically, NSRT sees all of my BS roms as good. They are headerless, non-interleaved, and have good checksums. But the latest no-intro SNES dat with Romcenter 2.71 results in only 1/4 of them being recognized. So am I doing something wrong or is something else to blame?

I suppose this may not account for all or even any of your problems, but are your ROMs in some sort of archive format like .ZIP? If my memory serves me correctly, Romcenter isn't always able to decompress all .ZIP archives. So try extracting your ROMs and rescanning.

I do not know the details but the No-Intro BS roms were modified at some point compared to NSRT verions. Your best chance would be to find and download them somewhere.

The roms are not compressed and all have .sfc extensions. Some are recognized by no intro, most are not. Nach didn't elaborate too much on it when I asked him, other than saying that NSRT had better detection and handling of these files. Whatever the reasons are, it would be nice to know if someone is doing something wrong, NSRT, No Intro, or RomCenter. It will help both projects and I plan on contributing to both in the future.

What was the system where we encrypted the US ROMs to make them more like the original carts i.e. to stop them working on Japanese consoles?I do not know the details but the No-Intro BS roms were modified at some point compared to NSRT verions. I thought it had something to do with the date on which the game was downloaded from the Satellaview system. IIRC Nach uses the original dates, while NGEfreak modified the dates (or the other way around). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

So it seems the broadcast date is stored in the ROMs. Nach kept them their original date, while NGEfreak padded them with FFFF.The date of the BS roms are currently padded with FFFF and I may be change them to when their first broadcast date. but first I need to find a accurate broadcast list.

Thanks for the look-up.
I'm getting too old to remember all these changes/clean-ups.

According to Nach:
So if he's right, someone might want to tell NGEFreak to change them back...An FFFF date is invalid. I also believe that any BS dump with a valid date is a valid dump. Hence NSRT/uCON64/ZSNES/Snes9x have all followed a single standard to recognize BS dumps with multiple valid dates as the same one.

If any BS dump with a valid date is a valid dump, we would need hundreds of clones for every BS dump. That's why we will use only the first broadcast date (instead of a random one) when we get an accurate broadcast list.

Alright, well I guess I'll have two sets then for no intro and nsrt. Would it be hard to pad the roms myself if I already have them. How would I go about doing this?
EDIT: nm, time to make my own dats. Too many inconsistencies here. No naming/inclusion doctrine, 3/4 of your beta games are relegated bad dumps in disguise, and including subtitles from title screens is rubbish.

I've padded the date to a consistence value because ClrMamePro can't handle BS roms like NSRT/uCON64/ZSNES/Snes9x. However I dedicated to use FF and not the answer to life, the universe and everything (42) which is used by NSRT/uCON64/ZSNES/Snes9x.According to Nach:

The current hacked BS roms will eventually be removed. However not only the first broadcast version will be added, every possible version will be added! Yes, this means some games may be added like 30, 60 or more times with the only difference being 2 bytes (sometimes more if they created a newer version for example). But I guess we will never see them all included anyway since we will probably never see new BS dumps. They won't be changed back.

Which beta versions are bad and why do you think they are bad?Alright, well I guess I'll have two sets then for no intro and nsrt. Would it be hard to pad the roms myself if I already have them. How would I go about doing this?

I think subtitles are important information and I don't see any reason to not include them. The title screen is by far the MOST important title for ROM images! Anyways, since the title from the box or the title from the media label are also important information and many people prefer to use them, a primary goal of the so called "No-Intro World Domination Project" is to fix the ever ongoing naming debates once and for all.
