about Unlicensed NES Games

Post by rpg2813 »

my english is very poor,I hope I can express clearly what I mean
-----
in this site:http://www.er.uqam.ca/merlin/fd491499/nintendo/
you can find lots of informations with Unlicensed NES Games
i suggest make Unlicensed NES Games to correct named
for example?the nes dat version 20091212?
the game in the dat:
Magic Jewelry (Asia) (Unl)
Magic Jewelry 2 (Asia) (Unl)
they are Developed by Hwang Shinwei and Published by RCM
the Hwang Shinwei and RCM which come from taiwan of china
so the correct named should be
Magic Jewelry (China) (Unl)
Magic Jewelry 2 (China) (Unl)
(http://www.er.uqam.ca/merlin/fd491499/n ... icjewelry/)
-----
in this url:http://www.er.uqam.ca/merlin/fd491499/n ... glukvideo/
we know the Gluk Video come from Spain
in this url:http://www.er.uqam.ca/merlin/fd491499/n ... nes/ntdec/
we know the NTDEC come from china
and this url:http://www.er.uqam.ca/merlin/fd491499/n ... onmonster/
we know the information for the game(balloon monster) in the dat

so the game is Developed by Mega Soft(the china)
and Published by Gluk Video in spain,Published by NTDEC in china

so the game in the dat:
Balloon Monster (Unknown) (Gluk Video) (Unl)
Balloon Monster (Unknown) (NTDEC, Gluk Video) (Unl)
the correct named should be
Balloon Monster (Spain) (Unl)
Balloon Monster (China) (Unl)
-----
do you think so?

Thank you rpg2813 :)

I'll leave these changes for BigFred to decide.

Regarding "Magic Jewelry", (Asia) would be correct if it was available in Taiwan *and* China.

hello - thanks for pointing us to these.
Balloon Monster (Unknown) (NTDEC, Gluk Video) (Unl)
The problem is that the same dump was found on both - the NTDEC and the spanish Gluk Video releases.

Assigning Asia/Taiwan or China is a matter of view about Taiwan's status.

We have (Hong Kong) on SNES, so I don't see the problem :?

Related reading.

If it was only available in Taiwan, then (Taiwan) would make sense (more than the HK tag in SNES)
Taiwan and China -> (Asia)

Otherwise (Hong Kong) should be (China) too.

Also, I think that:
Hong Kong and China -> (China)

Except that before July 1997, Hong Kong was UK, not China...

December 19, 1984: China and Britain signed the "Joint Declaration on the Question of Hong Kong"
Today is the 25th anniversary ……
I feel very helpless
-------
Taiwan and Hong Kong -->China
so that's no problem,ok?

Those SNES (Hong Kong) games feature Chinese language and cannot be considered UK-aimed nor (Europe)/(United Kingdom) tag-suitables. I understand, that they can't be considered (China) either due to special circumstances of Hong Kong region in relation to China. But (in the event that these region combos exist)

Hong Kong & China -> (China)
and
Hong Kong & Taiwan -> (Taiwan)

and not (Asia) for the same reason that we use

Australia & New Zealand -> (Australia)
and not (Europe)

Germany/France & probably some other countries -> (Germany)/(France)
and not (Europe)

or, if we ever use the (United Kingdom) tag
United Kingdom & Ireland -> (United Kingdom)
and not (Europe).

On a sidenote: if we use (Hong Kong), should't we use (Mexico) for SNES "Chavez" games?

my suggestion would be to rename the dump like this

Chinese Chess (Unl) => Zhong Kuo Jiang Qi (Unl)(Simple Chinese)or
Zhong Kuo Jiang Qi (Unl)(China)

Notes: The current dump of Chinese Chess for Genesis is not original Realtec Taiwanese version
it is actually Simplified Chinese characters version produced by China.

The undumped version of "Zhong Kuo Jiang Qi" is the Realtec one from Taiwan. And that games has
Tradition Chinese characters on it
I'd suggest that it be named
Zhong Kuo Jiang Qi (Unl)(Taiwan).md

Btw: I have noticed another genny dump called Chess (Unl)[!] (Russian Chess game ??????? aka. Shahmaty is actually the same as Chess_rus
Chess (Unl)[!] ==> Chess_rus
therefore I think should be renamed as Russian Chess Shahmaty(Unl)(Russia)or(R)

just a rename suggestion for the unlicensed rom: Qiao Ji Da Lao Er (if direct translation)
Super Big 2 (Unl)(Taiwan)[!]

If you're curious the reason why I suggest naming the country code "Taiwan" is because the game really is in Traditional Chinese characters. Furthermore, it is ported from the Genesis/MD version (Changpu?) with some slight changes, therefore, most likely programmed in Taiwan..

what do you think?
Hope this helps any questions pls let me know. Thanks.

Edit: Updated with slight corrections

Where "???????" should be romanized as "Shahmaty", I believe...
