Project64 v1.7 DATs

Post by Connie »

I've created the RDB & RDX files for Project64 1.7 that use the latest No-Intro sets and naming but with the following changes:

Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck (USA) (En,Fr,Es) (Beta) is removed.
...If you trim the last 4MB of data you will end up with the same CRC/hash as Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck (USA) (En,Fr,Es) therefore proving it isn't a Beta.

Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits Vol. 1 (USA) >>> Midway's Greatest Arcade Hits - Volume 1 (USA)
...Volume 1 as per box, hyphenated because of a possible series.

Olympic Hockey Nagano '98 >>> Olympic Hockey 98
...As per layout on box. I think Nagano was used from when the naming was based on title screens. Apostrophy isn't used.

Pocket Monsters xxx >>> Pocket Monsters' xxx
...Apostrophy is used on all the Pocket Monsters boxes.

Turok 3 - Shadow of Oblivion (USA) (Beta) >>> Turok 3 - Shadow of Oblivion (Germany) (Beta)
...As per internal serial. It also seems logical when you consider that there is a German version of all the other Turok games.

Simply extract the two files in the zip to the root of your Project64 installation folder.
Options > Settings... > Options Tab > Uncheck 'Hide Advanced Settings'
Rom Selection Tab > Check 'Use Rom Browser' and Add all the 'Available fields:'
File > Choose Rom Directory... > Point to your N64 ROMs folder.

Note: These files were setup and tested to work with v1.7.0.49 and it's latest plugins.

Connie.

Thanks a lot. But this
Turok 3 - Shadow of Oblivion (USA) (Beta) >>> Turok 3 - Shadow of Oblivion (Germany) (Beta)
is not correct. The internal code doesn't match the Turok 3 code at all (NTK vs. NSE). Besides it does only contain english and it's running in NTSC. It is a developer version running on an US machine with lots of development features enabled.

Yes, I had a play around with the ROM.

The internal serial NSED is what was throwing me/Project64 off. The databases use C:xx along with the internal CRC's to form the Meta tags for each games settings. D (44h) at offset 0x3F was being read and therefore flagged as a German release because this is what Project64 uses.

Incidently, if you change this region code to E (45h) USA NTSC, you can get the dump to run in PJ64 at the correct 60FPS. I'm now wondering why that German region 'D' is in the header? :?

Yes, the problem with the database was that they never got the ROM to work. I posted the method to hack it in their forums a few months ago. No idea if they realized. Afaik the real hardware doesn't care about the region letter. It's just a workaround to auto-detect the video mode which fails in this case. I'm not sure it is really meant to be germany. Maybe an internal code for a "D"eveloper-version? Who knows.

Except for Turok 3, are Connie's changes ok to apply, specially the first (Beta) removal?

Changes implemented except for "Duck Dodgers" and "Turok 3".
