So is this statement false?

Limitations

When playing this game on an emulator, it is sometimes necessary to reset the emulator, as the game can sometimes freeze up on the name entry screen. Unlike most games, game time is not faster than real time and 10 minutes on a bike in the game is actually 10 minutes in real life. This special effect was originally intended for players to do on their specialized exercise equipment which had to be bought separately, although the game still worked with the normal Super NES controllers.

Mh, didn't work when I tried it on an emu but you might want to check that again. Still, the Cannondale game is the actual released game while the other one was only available as a fitness tool with the bike. Even if it works with normal pads I'd still prefer the normal game release.

Exertainment Mountain Bike Rally plays fine for me on bsnes v0.046.

Now if Cannondale was mainstream on shops then I agree with you. But article suggests that the bike device was an option, I mean you could buy MBR with or without bike. Then there was also the Cannondale edition. Whatever.

Mh, that's news to me. I always thought I knew MBR was only sold with the bike. Cannondale was a standard retail title.

I don't get why anyone would want to use this feature. It's not possible to make a personal list by using such simple rules. There are many special cases. Sure, I would want the US version most of the time, but in case of Final Fantasy II/IV for example I would prefer the uncut Japanese version over the US version.
The 1G1R set is not based on version preference, but purely on the latest version available for your desired parent region (USA/English by default).

I too have some custom replacements, i for example like to play the hacked version of Secret of Evermore because that hack allows player 2 to control the dog. But that doesn't mean that i am going to adjust my 1G1R dat for it.(I actually replace 20 games from the 1G1R dat including japanese FF versions patched to english)
