PSP dat missing stuff from redump

Post by Hiccup »

Previously, the PSP dat would have entries "mirrored" from redump, but it seems like 121 of them haven't been added

Working on these, will update as I go

The following entries do not match Scene, may be better dumps (WIP):

Maybe someone with more PSP knowledge than I could look into whether there is evidence the scene ones are really messed up, or possibly just different versions?

Code: Select all

Since I made my most, I agreed with xuom2 and some others that it may be best to make the PSP dat into a "Non-Redump" one. I mean, it could still have the data imported from redump, but the "in-redump" stuff should probably be excluded from the datfile, to avoid duplication.

Ah okay, that makes sense, so we can keep the duplicated data but exclude from the dats like for the Non-Redump sets.

That way also helps identify bad dumps/missing from Redump better, if some of those hash matches are legit for instance.

Great idea look forward to it!

I would approve, if redump had more advanced methods. As Dat-o-matic has separate entries for each dump, images and a whole lot of more advance features, I think we should keep all of our data. Maybe just signify what's not in redump.

Hmm, that's a good point. Although maybe someone should just make a website to host pictures on behalf of redump dumpers, until redump's database catches up with the times.

You are right. However, at the end of the day the target is to avoid data duplication. But I still believe that No Intro dats are important, they contain a lot of information.

However, the bad dumps from the Scene can be substituted with the Redump ones as we can add the information from each Redump profile. AFAIK, yes, we can check what's the error with each scene release. One of the games mentioned were dumped by me in Redump and Im sure the Scene release must be bad dumped.

For the moment, my proposition: Make sure to establish a Non Redump PSP dat, containing all the stuff not dumped in Redump from No Intro. Sadly, there's too much Asian stuff that Redump will take years to cover... IF they ever do. The amount of PSP stuff undumped in Redump is massive.

Another reason I want to have this done is because the Undumped lists from Redump are better documented than the scene ones. AFAIK, nobody has checked to this day if there are missing retail games undumped from Asia. The ones from Europe or USA are well identified.

Well I mean, I'm not proposing anything should be removed. Just that "dat" should be set to "no" on archives that are also in redump, to avoid having overlap between the redump datfile and non-redump datfile.
