Hello everyone.
I only speak Spanish, so I am using google translator to communicate with you. I hope it is understood correctly! OMG.
Nice to join no-intro. The truth is that the issue of preservation interests me a lot. I have been aware of group work such as no-intro, redump, tosec ... and you do a fantastic job. But the point is that I have some doubts about it.
First, make it clear that I do not support piracy. Neither does the distribution of roms. But, if the .dat only gives us information about the games (and dlcs, updates, versions, etc.), and the ability to identify roms, the preservation of the games is still in danger. It is a job half done. The job of curators and archivists is to protect the legacy by protecting and guarding it, but because of companies, like the unnameable, this seems like a banned job.
What I wanted to ask are the following questions. With the necessary means, such as private servers, could it be possible to save all roms, updates, and dlcs, for the exclusive use of the archivist and preservation groups, as no-intro? Could groups like no-intro, redump or tosec join a hypothetical project, to preserve the history of video games? This sounds like a great project, but it's worth valuing, at least.
Of course, the roms would not be hosted on external links such as mega, 1ficher, etc ... and could not be shared, if not it would only be accessible to members, and those who would like to be members, could only be invited. Only the roms, or the other contents, would be used for study, exclusively.
What do you think? I think it would be legally viable. And don't get me wrong, the work that is done in no-intro, or in other groups is unquestionable. A cordial greeting!!

Re: Games preservation
Hello, we don't share ROMs and we are not interested in uploading ROMs on public or "private" spaces.
