Recently added GBA dumps

Post by C. V. Reynolds »

Recently DeriLoko3 added a lot of GBA dumps on the DOM. Where did these dumps come from? Are they from legitimate carts? Are they unhacked/unaltered?

Hi. Let me describe a few things.

1. No, I did not dump those ROMs, which they were not added into DAT-o-MATIC, until now. I do not know who dumped those GBA ROMs and those N64 ROMs. Those ROMs, which they were never-before-seen, are just posted into random gaming websites, which they are not hacking websites. This includes two Zelda ROMs (They are only big-endian). Let me show you the ROM data.

Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask (Europe) (Collector's Edition)

Code: Select all

Size: 33554431
CRC32: 3bed3980
MD5: 7d55045063cb66ca770d7c64f1b77294
SHA-1: 3522e96ad66991ccb7575b98cb97dbd629e240d1
Zelda no Densetsu - Toki no Ocarina (Japan) (Zelda Collection Edition)

Code: Select all

Size: 33554431
CRC32: 87864287
MD5: ddc81d959f170a593708fad73f7589eb
SHA-1: 2e72e5423fa2dacddb8909e33eb87fa63261610a
2. All those GBA ROMs that I added to DAT-o-MATIC are un-hacked and unaltered. This includes the demos and the Advance Play Edition games. Again, they were never-before-seen. To me, those demos must have come from the development kits. Do you know the Yoshi SDK demo? That came from the development kit.

3. The Korean versions of Pokemon - Black Version 2 and Pokemon - White Version 2 are the things that I was supposed to look at. I was looking around the web to see, if there are more copies of those two games, but there is no luck. So, I decided to find another way to make those two games proper, which is to add the DSi data into the two ROMs. I am not sure, if this might help, but I think that using a hex editor might do the trick.

4. You know those two Zelda ROMs that I mentioned. I was only trying to add the big-endian ROM data, not the byte-swapped ROM data, but it did not work.

You may want to look it up on the Old Computer website or the Iso Zone website.

Its probably best to make a post here if you aren't sure of the origin.

Are the the 4 bios files we got in the decrypted dat now good and will be kept?

What are "Advance Play Edition" games anyways?
Were these released on some other platform?

I still want to know where the "Advance Play" ROMs came from too. Anyone have any idea?

Yes. :3

But I mean: Where did DeriLoko3 get them from? I haven't seen the device the ROMs were originally contained on.

So I recently fixed and properly documented all those "Advanced Play Edition" (what does that even mean) GBA roms; turns out they were obtainable when playing the GameCube version of Animal Crossing. If you wanna take a look search for "Animal Crossing" in the GBA DB. Anyway, there were several NES ROMs in there as well, and I've added the documentation to the FDS/NES databases.

To fix DeriLoki3's "work" completly I'm looking for the files and the source of the two The Legend of Zelda N64 ROMS mentioned earlier.

Edit: Turns out they were both 1 byte underdumps. Thanks @Hiccup ;)
