Why are these in the SMD set?

Post by Vigi »

Arcade Legends Sega Mega Drive ~ Arcade Legends Sega Genesis ~ Mega Drive Play TV (World)
Arcade Legends Street Fighter II' - Special Champion Edition ~ Mega Drive Play TV 3 (World)

These seem to be memory dumps from some clone system. They cannot be played on an actual console or emulator. Why are these in the SMD set? IMO they should be removed.

I tried the two ROMs and they work fine for me on an emulator (GenesisPlus via OpenEmu). I don't have have anything setup to be able to try it on my actual Mega Drive though.

They're Sega-licensed "clone" consoles, which were actually manufactured by Sega (well, "Sega Toys", anyway).

Essentially, these ROMs are multi-game ROMs. Whether or not they should be included in the No-Intro set, I couldn't really say. I'd lean towards "no", but I also don't see any particular harm in them being included.
