A new Sega Megadrive game will be released soon. :o
It's a translation of the Chinese game "Xin Qi Gai Wang Zi".

Beggar Prince is a new and exciting role playing adventure game for use with Sega Genesis, Sega Megadrive and Sega Nomad videogame systems and compatibles. To be released in 2005, it will mark the first commercial game release for the Sega Genesis in the United States since 1998.

I was reading that there are a bunch of hardware checks by the game that prevent it from running bug-free on anything but a stock Genesis, ie no X'eye, no CD-X, no Nomad.. Have there been any patches that take care of this?

I dont have a problem with supporting the author through cart purchase, but I can't see keeping a Genesis hooked up just to play it.. Assuming I could even find my Genesis. :)

Sorry to bother you; I'm Brandon Cobb, president of Super Fighter Team
which produced and released Beggar Prince. I wanted to take the time to
thank you for supporting us by not releasing any ROM dump(s) of our game
product. Unauthorized release of any materials related to our game
products will surely only hurt the potential for new game releases in
the future. I'd like to nicely request that no information about this
game be included in any "DAT" file release, or elsewhere, if it has not
been already. I would appreciate your continued cooperation.

What I would like to know is: Did you purchase Beggar Prince and dump
the ROM yourself? Or, did someone send the ROM to you? Or ??? If you
dumped the ROM yourself, I would like for you to please describe how and
using what sort of tool(s). Thank-you.

Also, I would like for you to please send your dump of Beggar Prince to
me, by e-mail, as I would like to have a look at it. Thank-you.

Have a nice day.

So don't think you're gonna see this dump soon, I do not support piracy.
Thanks.

The No-Intro group as a whole doesn't support piracy. Of course you will not post this dump because you would get warned or banned then, and your link removed. Also, the No-Intro staff asks you kindly to NOT dump this game nor include its ROM image in the Sega Mega Drive dat.

Beggar Prince runs 100% flawlessly on a Nomad, including saving. One can take a look at this fan-created video http://youtube.com/watch?v=NHqDDyQpLr8 for the proof. :)

The game will play just fine on a CD-X, too. The proof of that can be seen in this fan-created video http://youtube.com/watch?v=IXI5EBY3POk However, using a CD-X, you will not be able to save / load your game.

Currently, placing a Beggar Prince cartridge into an X-Eye will produce naught but a black screen. This actually happens as a result of placing any unlicensed game into the X-Eye, and is due to how the X-Eye's BIOS functions.

Why doesn't the save / load routine work with the CD-X, SegaCD and 32X? Because it was programmed in a special manner which is incompatible with these particular machines. It's not so much the programmers' fault, as the CD-X, SegaCD and 32X didn't exist in Taiwan... so, they simply weren't aware they were doing anything "wrong".
Have there been any patches that take care of this?
Not yet... it's a rather difficult endeavor.

I don?t agree with piracy, but in my oppinion ROMs won?t affect the sales of Beggar Prince. This is a product directed to collectors who want the real cartridge in their shelves.

And I think the ROMs are a great way to promote the game.

So if you're not planning on producing it again, it certainly won't harm your sales ;)

That is yet to be determined.

I'm fairly certain, now that the game is sold out, that at least a handful of my customers will attempt to re-sell the game on eBay, to make a quick buck. If you are so intent on playing the game, this may be your next best option to pick it up.

If you want something for free, there are plenty of big-budget games from large software houses which are already widely pirated across the internet. Please, do not hint at picking on a small company whose only goal is to provide new games for an otherwise dead market. If we go, there's no commercial-grade releases on the Genesis to follow. You can bet on that.

Thanks for your interest.
