Bokujou Monogatari GB (Japan) (CGB+SGB Enhanced) (NP)

Post by Great Hierophant »

The comment to this dump says "ROM from GB Memory Cartridge (DMG-MMSA-JPN), so no PCB/chip serials, stamps etc. Media serial from game header (CGB compatible[0x0143] + 4-letter code[0x013F] + country[0x014A])." However, the byte at $0143 in the dump is $00, which means no CGB compatibility. The game does not show any signs of CGB compatibility either, neither does its non-NP variants. If the header did indicate CGB Compatibility, it would have a value of $80 in there, and it does not. This ROM should be renamed.

The only "Game Boy games" with Game Boy Color compatibility are the various versions of Pokemon Yellow, except for the Japanese language versions.

Yes, game (original cartridge) was released nearly a year before the GBC, so no GBC support sounds right.

Although there was a color version, it seems the US was the only region to get both. It seems Japan only got the monochrome version and EU only got the color version.
