Game Boy Color boot ROMs from Pokemon Stadium 2 and Game Boy Advance

Post by Arctic Circle System »

Recently we found two Game Boy Color boot ROMs that we noticed weren't found on No-Intro. One was from Pokemon Stadium 2's GB Tower and the other was from a Game Boy Advance used for backwards compatibility. We are not sure who dumped these boot ROMs, we just compiled them from here: https://github.com/ISSOtm/gb-bootroms

Every other boot ROM from that page that we compiled was a good dump. It's reasonable to conclude that these are good dumps as well. ~Charlie

1008 seems like an odd size for a boot ROM, though.
Why not 1024, a more even size?

I know of the size of the GBC bootrom is technically a 2KB but split with a 256 byte gap needed for cart verification. (so the total of 2048 + 256 still adds up)

Though I'm not seeing the "BIOS" files in the Datomatic anymore, so I'm sure which we have accepted for GBC (the 2.25KB memory map dump or the 2KB?)

We're not sure what you mean when you say you can't see the BIOS files in DAT-o-Matic anymore. We know the AGB one isn't in the DAT-o-Matic. We're not sure why the size of the Pokemon Stadium 2 boot ROM is that, but it works fine in an emulator. ~Charlie

Edit: We tested our emulator to see if it would skip the boot ROM if the boot ROM is not a good boot ROM by taking a random GBC game and trying to use that as the BIOS. The emulator got stuck on a white screen. So we know the Pokemon Stadium 2 boot ROM works at least.

I see. From what I recall, however, there was a copy of the AGB CGB boot ROM in the gigaleak somewhere (in one of the boot ROM dev repositories) and it had the same hash.

It can also be found here. https://gbdev.gg8.se/files/roms/bootroms/ ~Chara
