In regards to a dump I made of Yggdra Union

Post by Arsenal24 »

Hi, No-Intro!

I'm rather new here, so I'm not sure of all of the etiquette in regards to ROM dumping, or sharing information for the sake of troubleshooting. However, I would like to see if I can get help in regards to a particularly strange situation I've run into:

So, I managed to get myself a copy of Yggdra Union as of late for the Game Boy Advance (USA version). I managed to attempt to dump it to my computer 3 different times. However, in the process, I've run into something strange:

This is the information that I was able to pull from the Game Header file.

----| File Data |--------------------------------------------------
System: Nintendo Game Boy Advance
File: YGGDRA UNION [BYUEEB].gba
Path: G:\Dumps
Compressed: No
Length: 33554432 Bytes (256 Mbit)
CRC32: B4EA35AE
MD5: 72D73348 74680366 B84BC974 08F6CEBA
SHA1: 949936B0 D14789EB B3A3273D 2DBB47B2 E0104782
----| Header Data |------------------------------------------------
ROM Entry Point: EA00002E
Logo Code: Ok
Title: YGGDRA UNION
Serial: BYUE (USA)
Maker Code: EB (Atlus)
Fixed Value: 0x96 (Ok)
Unit Code: 0x00
Device Code: 0x00
Reserved 1: 0x00000000000000
Version: 0x00 (v1.0)
Complement: 0x2E (Ok)
Reserved 2: 0x0000
----| Backup Media |-----------------------------------------------
Chip: EEPROM_V126
Size: 4/64 Kbit
-------------------------------------------------------------------

I ripped this file from my GBA cart using the Gamecube/GBA Link Cable method. I checked the cartridge itself for any signs of it being a bootleg, and I couldn't find anything in particular. Is there a particular problem with this cart, or is it fine? I would like to know how concerned I should be, or if I should post more information to get some help in regards to this.

Thanks!

I'm not super-familiar with GBA dumping, but that all looks pretty reasonable to me. What looks strange to you?

It isn't matching up with what is being dumped on the database. So I was just wondering what would cause that.

The dump in the database is a scene dump, so it might have been modified in some subtle way. Alternatively, the database entry doesn't mention what revision of the game was dumped, so maybe it's not v1.0 like yours is.

Could you show what the differences are between the two ROMs (you can PM me if you want me to help with this).

Also, could you post photos of the back+front of the cart and PCB.

Thanks
