Naming Convention with NES Double Dragon

Post by Great Hierophant »

Double Dragon has somewhat of an inconsistent naming convention with Japanese ROM releases :

Double Dragon - Sou Setsu Ryuu (Japan).nes
Sou Setsu Ryuu II - The Revenge (Japan).nes
Sou Setsu Ryuu III - The Rosetta Stone (Japan).nes

All three games have both the English "Double Dragon" and the Kanji 双載龍 on the box, label and title screen. So I think the second and third game in the series should be named as

Double Dragon - Sou Setsu Ryuu II - The Revenge (Japan).nes
Double Dragon - Sou Setsu Ryuu III - The Rosetta Stone (Japan).nes

While this makes the file names longer, they are not the longest titles in the NES set. Also, this makes the games easier to find for English speakers, especially in an archive sorted by alphabetical folders.

It seems the kanji is meant as a stylized writing of "Double Dragon".
It seems like multiple Japanese and English releases have used it.

The Super Famicom box art here shows it being used as a stylized spelling.

Both languages are invariably used on the NES games.
