GBA/NDS: Save types

Post by Myria »

The AGB, NTR and TWL cartridge ROM header formats contain zero information about what type of save system the cartridge uses. The dumping database probably should include this information somehow. NTR/TWL/CTR cartridges should also have the cart hardware ID, a 4-byte value. In CTR cartridges, the cart hardware ID is part of the "private header" that GodMode9 dumps, but obviously, giving out the entire "private header" makes no sense.

I'd like to add this info to my GBA, NTR, TWL and 3DS dumps. How can get the info?

At least for GBA dumps, the only way to know for sure is to open the cart and look at what kind of save-storage is used: Nothing, EEPROM, SRAM/FRAM, or Flash. Specifically for Flash, it's also important to note the chip's manufacturer.
